This Privacy Policy explains how The Bohde Collective collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit the Site, submit an inquiry, download a guide, book a consult call, or otherwise interact with us. It also describes your rights and how to exercise them.
If you book a wedding, elopement, engagement, or lifestyle session with us, a separate client services agreement (signed through HoneyBook) governs the photography work itself. This policy covers the website and our pre-booking communications.
We collect the following categories of personal information:
_ga, _fbp, session IDs, and any campaign click identifiers (gclid from Google Ads, fbclid from Meta, and utm_* parameters). We collect information through:
We use your information to:
Legal bases (for EU/UK visitors): we rely on your consent for marketing and most cookies, on legitimate interests for analytics and security, and on the necessity of performing a contract for any pre-booking communications you initiate.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers and partners that help us run the business, and only with what they need to do their job:
| Provider | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| HoneyBook | Inquiry data (name, email, phone, event details, message) | Customer relationship management — track leads, send contracts, manage projects |
| Zapier | Inquiry data in transit | Securely passes form submissions from the Site to HoneyBook |
| Calendly | Name, email, phone, event details | Schedule and confirm consult calls; pre-fills your info so you don't retype it |
| Google (Analytics 4 & Ads) | Anonymized usage data, click IDs, conversion events | Measure site performance; attribute paid-search conversions |
| Meta (Facebook/Instagram Pixel) | Anonymized usage data, conversion events | Measure paid social performance and serve retargeted ads |
| Google Workspace | Email correspondence and attachments | Business email and document storage |
| Web host & WordPress plugins | Server log data, form submission backups | Run, secure, and back up the Site |
| Payment processor | Transaction details (not card numbers — handled by them directly) | Collect retainers and balances; we never see or store full card data |
We may also disclose information when required by law (subpoena, court order, government request), to enforce our agreements, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of The Bohde Collective, our clients, or the public.
A cookie is a small text file that a site places on your browser. We use several kinds:
_ga, _ga_*). Tells us which pages are working._fbp), Google Ads remarketing tags. Used to measure ad performance and show you relevant ads on other sites. You can disable cookies in your browser settings or use a tool like the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Blocking cookies may break parts of the Site (e.g., form submissions).
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no industry consensus on what that signal means, we do not currently respond to it. Where required by law (e.g., the Global Privacy Control signal under the CCPA), we honor it as an opt-out of sale/share.
We run paid campaigns on Google and Meta to reach couples planning weddings in Austin and Central Texas. To measure those campaigns we collect click IDs (gclid, fbclid) and UTM parameters when you arrive from an ad. We pass conversion events (form submission, consult booking) back to those platforms.
The platforms may match your visit to your account on their service. You can manage ad personalization at adssettings.google.com and in your Meta ad preferences.
Our inquiry form lets you say whether it's fine to text you. If you check the SMS-consent box or select "Text" as your contact preference, you are giving express written consent to receive transactional and follow-up text messages from The Bohde Collective at the phone number you provided. Message and data rates may apply. Frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help. Opting out of texts does not opt you out of email or vice versa.
Your phone number and SMS consent are not shared with third parties for their marketing. We do not use SMS to send marketing blasts — only to communicate about your inquiry, booking, or shoot.
We use industry-standard safeguards: encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the Site, encrypted storage with our providers, strong unique passwords, multi-factor authentication on business accounts, and access limited to the people who need it (which, today, is Caity and Johnny Jensen). No system is 100% secure. If a breach affects your information, we'll notify you and applicable regulators as required by law.
You can ask us to:
To exercise any of these rights, email caity@thebohdecollective.com with the subject line "Privacy Request." We'll verify your identity (usually by replying from the email on file) and respond within 45 days. Exercising your rights is free and we won't discriminate against you for doing so.
Depending on where you live, additional rights may apply:
California residents have the rights described above plus the right to know the categories of personal information collected, sources, business purposes, and third parties with whom we share it (see Section 1 and Section 4). We do not "sell" personal information for money. We do "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising via the Meta Pixel and Google Ads remarketing tags; you can opt out by adjusting cookie settings in your browser, using the Global Privacy Control, or emailing us. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
Residents of these states have rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of their data, and to opt out of targeted advertising. Texas residents can submit requests under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act effective July 2024. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at caity@thebohdecollective.com. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to that email with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject line; if the appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general.
You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We'll ask the agent to provide signed written authorization and may verify directly with you.
The Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 for California residents). If you believe a child has submitted information to us, email caity@thebohdecollective.com and we'll delete it.
The Site links to external sites (Instagram, Pinterest, venue partners, blog references, and so on). We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their privacy practices. Read their policies before sharing personal information with them.
We update this policy when our practices change, when we add a new service provider, or when the law changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be flagged on the Site for a reasonable period, and where required by law we'll seek your renewed consent.
