The Bohde Collective is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to people with disabilities. We believe an inclusive web is part of how we do business, not an afterthought. This statement explains our standards, the measures we take, what we know we still need to improve, and how to reach a real human if something on the Site isn't working for you.
What's in here
1. Our commitment
We are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We work to conform to recognized accessibility standards and to fix issues we identify or that you report to us, on a reasonable and ongoing basis.
This commitment extends to our public marketing site only. Third-party tools we use to communicate with you (HoneyBook for contracts, Calendly for scheduling, our email and SMS providers) have their own accessibility policies, which we encourage you to review. If a third-party tool is creating a barrier for you, please tell us — we will offer an accessible alternative way to accomplish the same task.
2. Conformance status
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA
Current status: Partially conformant.
"Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively working toward full Level AA conformance across all pages and content types, including older portfolio galleries and blog archives.
WCAG 2.1 is the international standard published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Level AA is the conformance level commonly referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and adopted by most U.S. courts and federal agencies as the practical benchmark for public-facing websites.
3. Measures we take
The Bohde Collective takes the following steps to ensure accessibility is part of how we build and maintain the Site:
- Include accessibility as part of every site review and redesign, not as a final-step audit.
- Use a WordPress theme and page-builder configuration (Elementor Pro) that supports accessibility-friendly markup out of the box.
- Provide ongoing accessibility training and reference materials to the team that maintains the Site.
- Test with both manual review (keyboard navigation, screen reader spot checks) and automated tools.
- Treat accessibility feedback as a high-priority bug class — not a "nice to have."
4. Accessibility features
The Site includes the following accessibility features:
- Semantic HTML. Headings, lists, navigation, and main content regions are marked up with appropriate HTML5 landmarks and ARIA roles so assistive technologies can navigate the page.
- Keyboard navigation. All interactive elements — links, buttons, form fields, the menu, the contact form, and the FAQ accordions — are reachable and operable using a keyboard alone.
- Skip-to-content link. The first focusable element on every page is a "Skip to main content" link that bypasses the navigation.
- Visible focus indicators. Focused elements show a clear visual outline.
- Descriptive link text. We avoid "click here" and "learn more" in favor of links that describe their destination.
- Alternative text on images. Decorative shapes use empty
altattributes oraria-hidden="true"; meaningful images (portfolio shots, blog images) include descriptive alternative text. - Form labels. Every input on the inquiry and lead-magnet forms has a visible label and a programmatically associated
<label>element. - Color contrast. Body text on background combinations meets the WCAG AA 4.5:1 contrast ratio. Large headings and decorative accents may use higher-contrast color pairings.
- Responsive design. The Site adapts to mobile, tablet, and desktop viewports, and supports browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- Plain language. We use plain, conversational English and avoid jargon where possible.
5. Known limitations
Despite our best efforts, parts of the Site do not yet fully conform. We are working to address these:
- Older blog post images imported from our previous Squarespace site may have generic or missing alternative text. We are auditing and updating these.
- Third-party embeds — including the Calendly scheduling widget, the Instagram feed, and any embedded maps — are rendered by external services and may have their own accessibility gaps. If you can't use an embedded tool, contact us and we'll do the same thing by email or phone.
- Decorative animated shapes and blobs on certain pages are marked as decorative and hidden from assistive tech. If any animation causes discomfort, you can reduce or disable motion in your operating-system accessibility settings; we honor the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query where supported. - PDF resources (pricing guides, planning checklists, lead-magnet downloads) are designed for visual readability and may not yet be fully tagged for screen readers. Accessible versions are available on request.
- Auto-playing or background video is avoided, but where any video appears, captions or transcripts may not yet be available for older content. Email us and we will provide a text alternative.
6. Technical specifications
Accessibility of the Site relies on the following technologies working in combination with your browser and any assistive technologies or plugins you use:
- HTML
- WAI-ARIA
- CSS
- JavaScript
These technologies are relied upon for conformance with the accessibility standards used.
7. Compatibility
The Site is designed to be compatible with the following:
- Recent versions of major browsers — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge.
- Major mobile browsers on iOS (Safari) and Android (Chrome).
- Screen readers including NVDA and JAWS on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, and TalkBack on Android.
- Operating-system features for magnification, color filters, high contrast, reduced motion, and voice control.
The Site is not designed to be compatible with browsers older than the latest two major versions. If you are using older technology, some features may not work as expected.
8. Assessment approach
The Bohde Collective assessed the accessibility of the Site by the following approaches:
- Self-evaluation. The Site was reviewed internally by the team that built it, using a combination of manual keyboard testing, screen reader spot checks, and visual review.
- Automated tooling. Pages were tested with browser-based accessibility audit tools (Lighthouse, axe DevTools) during build.
- Ongoing user feedback. Reports submitted through the channels in Section 9 are reviewed and prioritized.
We have not yet engaged a third-party accessibility auditor or VPAT preparer. Doing so is on our roadmap. If you require a current VPAT or formal conformance report, please contact us.
9. Feedback & reporting
If you find something on the Site that isn't working for you — a page you can't navigate by keyboard, a form you can't submit with a screen reader, an image without useful alt text, a color combination that's hard to read, or anything else — please tell us. We take accessibility reports seriously and aim to respond within 5 business days.
When you write, please include (as much as you can — none of it is required):
- The URL where you experienced the problem
- What you were trying to do
- What happened instead
- The browser, operating system, and any assistive technology you were using
- How we can reach you

Fix timelines depend on complexity.
10. Reasonable accommodation
If you need information from this Site in a different format (large print, accessible PDF, plain-text version, audio recording, or a one-on-one phone walk-through of pricing, packages, or availability), we will provide it free of charge in a reasonable timeframe. Just email or call using the contacts above and tell us what you need.
This applies equally to the inquiry process. If the contact form isn't accessible for you, we will gather the same information by email, phone, or whatever channel works best.
11. Enforcement
We are not aware of any current legal proceedings regarding the accessibility of the Site. Our goal is to resolve any accessibility concern informally and directly with the person reporting it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may pursue formal channels:
- U.S. Department of Justice — ADA Section 508 / ADA Title III complaints: ada.gov/file-a-complaint.
- Texas Workforce Commission — Civil Rights Division for state-level complaints.
- Your state attorney general's consumer protection division.
We are based in Texas. The Site is operated from Austin, Texas, U.S.A.
